Short Notice :-
  • Department of Posts, Government of India has invited online applications for engagement to the posts of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) including Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak in different offices of the Department of Posts under GDS Online Engagement Schedule-II, July-2026. Applications are to be submitted online through the official GDS portal.

Eligibility / Qualification Details

Candidates must have:

  • Passed 10th Standard / Secondary School Examination (SSE) from a recognized Board.
  • Passing marks in Mathematics and English.
  • Studied the prescribed local language up to 10th Standard.
  • Knowledge of Computer.
  • Knowledge of Cycling.
  • Adequate means of livelihood.

How to Apply
  1. Visit the official India Post GDS Online Engagement Portal.
  2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR).
  3. Verify your mobile number and email ID through OTP.
  4. Enter personal and Class 10th educational details.
  5. Select the eligible Division and post preferences.
  6. Upload the recent photograph and signature.
  7. Preview the application carefully.
  8. Pay the ₹100 fee, if applicable.
  9. Submit the application before the closing date.
  10. Save/print the submitted application for future reference.

Only one registration per candidate is permitted. Duplicate/multiple registrations can lead to cancellation.

Other Details
  • GDS posts include BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevak.
  • GDS are not regular Central Government employees and their service conditions are governed by the GDS (Conduct and Engagement) Rules, 2020.
  • BPM candidates must arrange suitable accommodation for the Branch Post Office after selection and before engagement.
  • BPM must reside in the post village; ABPM and Dak Sevak have prescribed residence requirements.
  • Shortlisted candidates must undergo physical verification of original documents.
  • Candidates must carry relevant documents including marksheet, identity proof, caste/PwBD/EWS certificates where applicable, DOB proof and a medical certificate.
  • After successful verification, candidates must complete pre-engagement formalities within the prescribed period.

  • The notification specifies that the engagement process may be modified, cancelled or revised by the Department as per the stated conditions.
